Ergonomics
Ergonomics is an element not very familiar within organizations but is of utmost importance. Ergonomics is designing a job to fit the worker, so the work is safer and more efficient. By implementing ergonomic solutions can make employees more comfortable and increase productivity. There are three types of ergonomics: Physical, Cognitive, and Organizational.
The main purpose of ergonomics is to prevent soft tissue injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) caused by sudden or sustained exposure to force, vibration, repetitive motion, and awkward posture.
Implementing an ergonomic program as per the Ergonomics Regulations 2018 can take up to a week to implement as the observation of work activities can be time consuming. After a program is implemented, employees and management will need to attend training, which will be over a period of 2 days. And maintaining an ergonomic program can be done on a quarterly basis.
