Contractor Management

Contractor management can be quite a process which can cause unnecessary extra stress on an organization’s safety management system. It’s the Employers responsibility to keep Contractors safe on their site whilst completing the said project, even if there is a 37(2) agreement in place.

There are a few requirements that Contractors must comply with, such as a Contractor Safety Induction process, having a well-documented safety file and a valid Letter of Good Standing (COIDA – Compensation Fund or RMA – Rand Mutual Assurance), Risk Assessments or Method Statements, Working at Heights certification and Medicals, to name a few.

To keep in mind – if a Contractor is injured on your organizations site, the investigation process have to be concluded before the end of the project.
