Safety Meetings
When an organisation had 2 or more SHE Representatives, the organisation needs to establish a safety committee (OHSA 19 and 20). Safety meetings are held at least once every three months. But its preferred to have a safety meeting on a monthly basis. There needs to be an Agenda that is circulated to the attendees before the meeting which will assist in preparing for the meeting.
The attendees consist of management representatives and SHE Representatives, and a chairperson. Safety concerns are discussed, and feedback needs to be given to employees that raised the concerns. Minutes of the meeting are populated and signed off by the Chairperson and circulated to all the attendees. These minutes are to be kept for a period of 3 years. Department of Labor Inspectors love to view minutes of safety meetings.
